The Icelandic outerwear brand and the emerging designer collaborate on a new capsule collection for extreme weather conditions.

66º North and Charlie Constantinou unite their worlds for the second time

Following the success of their first collaboration, this new release presents an evolution of the previous one, incorporating innovations in design and fabrics that combine technical functionality with fashion.

66°North has been making outerwear its history for almost 100 years, and Charlie Constantinou is popularly known for his technical approach. This collection precisely celebrates the union of these two unique DNAs. Multifunctionality is once again the cornerstone of the pieces, created to withstand the harsh Icelandic weather conditions without sacrificing comfort in urban environments. The combination of advanced fabrics such as Gore-Tex and Polartec Neoshell, along with functional details such as adjustable drawstrings, zippers and reflective materials, makes each garment both durable and adaptable.

One of the key aspects of this collaboration is its commitment to sustainability. Both 66°North and Constantinou share a holistic view on circularity, which is reflected in the use of leftover fabrics from 66°North’s factory and design processes that prioritize sustainable materials. Iceland, with its extreme nature, remains an essential source of inspiration for the collection. Constantinou has spent time exploring the country’s landscapes, which has directly influenced the collection’s color palette, with hues that evoke glaciers and volcanoes and underscore the durability of the products.

Among the standout pieces is the Signature Quilt Jacket, a jacket that takes center stage in the AW24 collection. Made using a mineral dyeing process that takes four days to complete, it uses natural elements such as clay and rocks to achieve an eco-friendly finish. Its design includes down compartments that create a bubble effect and a stretch fabric that provides great flexibility. The collection also introduces the Signature Quilt Backpack, made from the same fabric, to match the jacket.

Other new styles for FW24 include a “Hybrid Shearling Shell Jacket,” which blends Polartec with wool, and a selection of shearling accessories, such as hoods, scarves and fanny packs. In addition, some of the basic styles from the first season are updated, such as the “CC Shell Jacket”, in new colors and with the characteristic 66°North finishes. Knitwear also plays a prominent role, with sweaters, balaclavas and gloves featuring a three-dimensional effect that changes color when stretched.

The collection was presented at Constantinou’s first runway show at London Fashion Week in February, and the campaign was shot in the landscapes of Iceland, reinforcing the link between the brand and its natural surroundings.

The collection, priced from £175 to £2,175 to £2,175, will be available from October 23rd at 66º North’s store on Regent Street, London, and at Sværtegade, Copenahgen, as well as at 66north.com. The collection will be sold internationally at 10 Corso Como, Browns, Cannabis, Dover Street Market, ICON, Hatchet, Havn and SSENSE.
