Hublot and Takashi Murakami unveil their most striking and exceptional creation to date

The new MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow is complex, brilliant and totally kawaii.

Presented as an exceptional collector’s item, this timepiece reimagines the Japanese artist’s iconic smiling flower as a sapphire sculpture set with coloured gemstones and equipped with HUBLOT‘s first central tourbillon movement. And it is so exclusive that only 20 units have been created.

Its 42 mm case is meticulously crafted from a block of sapphire crystal and takes the shape of a smiling flower. True to Murakami‘s chromatic palette, the twelve petals feature polished titanium inlays set with 444 coloured gemstones in total, including rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, blue topaz, blue topaz, tsavorites and brilliant-cut yellow or orange sapphires. These stones are grouped so that each petal is a different brilliant colour, just like Murakami‘s original smiling flower.

More than an incredible feat of gem-setting, however, the MP-15 incorporates a truly revolutionary mechanical calibre. At the heart of the HUB9015 calibre is the central flying tourbillon, which can be admired through the domed sapphire crystal engraved with two glowing eyes and a smiling mouth. The central tourbillon, a first for HUBLOT, is a very rare type of complication requiring advanced engineering and a reinvention of the construction of a mechanical movement.

The transparent strap, decorated with Takashi Murakami’s characteristic floral motif, is the finishing touch. Like the case, the folding clasp is made of sapphire crystal and titanium.

The MP-15 is the symbol of a friendship in full bloom, born of a shared passion for pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations. A creation that continues to strengthen the close relationship that the watchmaker and the artist began in 2021, when they decided to launch the three eponymous Classic Fussion models and a series of TNF works of art paired with unique pieces.
