This weekend, MIRA 2024 returns to Fira Montjuïc to celebrate its 13th edition. Friday 8 and Saturday 9 November will be packed with a programme based, as always, on the thematic pillars that have defined it since its inception: audiovisual shows, live performances, immersive 360º projections, art installations and DJ sets.
The countdown is over. Artists of the stature of Bicep, Kim Gordon, Lorenzo Senni, A.G. Cook, Snow Strippers and Toccororo headline a line-up with a musical proposal with more than 25 artists spread over two days.
One of the most anticipated artists of this edition is Bicep, the tandem of Belfast producers Andy Ferguson and Matthew McBriar, who will present at MIRA 2024 their new artistic concept: CHROMA, a fabulous immersive experience characterised by its fluidity, evolution and experimentation with visuals by the brilliant artist and designer David Rudnick, from Terrain studio.
Another of the great artists of this edition will be Kim Gordon, iconic co-founder of Sonic Youth, who arrives at MIRA 2024 to present, for the first time in Spain, her long-awaited second solo album, The Collective (via Matador), her most electronic work to date and one of the best albums she has ever participated in.
Also British Murder Boys, the union of two solo artists who have been key players in the UK techno scene and beyond, Surgeon (Anthony Child) and Regis (Karl O’Connor), pioneers in the craft of techno-heavy live performance.
Carl Stone, the American composer and pioneer in creating live computer music, will also have an important place in the programme given his great influence and his work pushing the boundaries of electronic music with a creative and experimental approach.
Not to be missed is the man considered the father of hyperpop, A. G. Cook, who will present his latest album, Britpop, a musical journey consisting of 3 CDs exploring the history of this genre. The artist, producer and composer has collaborated with artists such as Beyoncé and Charli XCX from his influential record label PC Music, forging an unmistakable sound that defines today’s pop.
Another headliner will be Detroit electronic duo Snow Strippers, formed by Tatiana Schwaninger and Graham Perez, whose music unites styles such as EDM, electroclash and retro sounds with touches of indie sleaze, reminiscent of iconic bands such as Crystal Castles and Salem.
Also present will be other names such as Lory D, legend of the underground scene in Rome and firm representative of the sound of the transalpine country in the 90s; Lorenzo Senni, who at MIRA 2024 will be one of the few occasions on which the artist will present his new show, previewing music from his next album; and Toccororo, Spanish artist with Canary and Galician roots, who will bring his vibrant DJ set in which he mixes genres such as drummerio, dancehall, guaracha and dembow, among many others.
