Tom Wesselmann’s art comes to the Fondation Louis Vuitton

Considered one of the masters of American art-pop, he achieved international recognition for his striking iconography.

The Parisian museum, owned by LVMH, is hosting this exciting new exhibition, a unique opportunity to enter the vibrant and provocative universe of an artist who, along with figures such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, redefined art in the second half of the 20th century.

Under the title ‘Pop Forever Tom Wesselmann &…’ he proposes a journey through his most iconic series, such as ‘Great American Nude’, where he explores the female figure under a bold and vibrant approach. His work reflects American society in the 1960s and 1970s, marked by consumerism, mass society, hedonism and cultural change.

In addition to his innovative technique and unique sensibility, the exhibition highlights how Wesselmann mastered visual provocation with great skill, using eroticism and pop culture to question traditional values.

The exhibition, which will be open to the public until 24 February 2025, also includes works by Marcel Duchamp, Kurt Schwitters, Jasper Johns, Marisol, Derrick Adams, Ai Weiwei, Lauren Halsey, Richard Hamilton, David Hammons, KAWS and Yayoi Kusama.
