This is the Gower Court Mausoleum in Los Angeles

The most iconic cemetery in the city of stars takes a step into the future with a structure that redefines the concept of ‘eternal rest’.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the epicentre of Hollywood culture and history, has unveiled the first phase of its Gower Court Mausoleum, an imposing structure that fuses Brutalist aesthetics with a contemporary, eco-friendly approach.

Designed by Lehrer Architects and complemented by the work of Roberto Sheinberg Architecture & Design, the vertical mausoleum aims to add 50,000 new resting spaces for residents who are already part of the legendary cemetery.

With a height of 30 metres, this piece of architecture not only towers over the Californian cityscape, but redefines what we understand by funerary design. The structure, made of cast-in-place concrete, bears the hallmark of eco-brutalism: a style that blends the robustness of brutalism with the greenery of nature, resulting in a vertical ensemble that breathes with vertical gardens and lush greenery.

The interior is filled with natural light and fresh air that pours through the open corridors, creating a serene atmosphere that allows visitors to enjoy 360-degree views of everything surrounding the cemetery: Paramount Studios, the Hollywood Hills, the San Gabriel Mountains and, of course, the city of Los Angeles.
