Ana Sting presents ‘My war against love is over’ with Untitle Gallery

The constant clash between Eros and Thanatos marks the course of all human relationships. Likewise, the boundary that separates them is a thin membrane whose consequences can put an end to affective bonds. During the subsequent period of mourning, the following encounters may be affected by the previous drives imbalances, leading to the rejection of any new emotional interaction. Finding peace is thus the desire of any bereaved being, wanting to return to the starting point where giving and receiving love was easy.

Ana Sting reflects on these questions in her project My War Against Love is Over. Based on an experience of a break-up, the artist enters a reflective and solitary period where she wonders about her relational hindrance, her denial of love. In this way, the solitude that arises as a consequence of detaching herself from all ties and carrying out this process of introspection is considered beneficial. Little by little, she tries to reconcile herself with both others and herself, realising that, in the end, what has provoked the war between her and love is precisely the fear of losing it. In order to understand and thus put an end to this internal war, Sting brings her battlefield into the realm of reality in this multidisciplinary exhibition.

In 2022, he presented his first solo exhibition in Barcelona, ‘1:11 – Inner Personalities’, where he showed photographic self-portraits and performance. In 2023, he held an artist residency in Jaipur, India, funded by the Marcelo Burlon Foundation, and participated in the Jaipur Art Week. He also exhibited at the UVNT fair in Madrid, where he won the acquisition prize, and presented his video art ‘Kueeng’ on the Nowness platform. In 2024, she focused on developing her work and moved her studio to Barcelona.

Under this theme, the artist will hold her first exhibition in Madrid the week of 27 to 2 February, together with Untitled Gallery in the Galería nueva space in C/ Alejandro Sánchez 94, Carabanchel. The spectator will be enveloped in a multidisciplinary atmosphere created from a large installation, textiles, a sculptural piece, and a performance by the artist herself that will begin and end the show. The opening will take place on Monday 27 January at 19h. To attend it is necessary to register at the following link.

An unmissable event for collectors and lovers of contemporary art.
