As you’ve already seen on Ye‘s instagram, Bianca Censori has become the most googled person on earth on the back of her appearance at the Grammys. And even if the rapper’s current wife appeared without clothes, there was a day that Censori did have a habit of covering her body with them.
Bianca Censori is perhaps Kanye’s muse with the biggest, and fastest, makeovers since his union with Kanye West. An architecture graduate from the University of Melbourne, Censori has worked as head of architectural design at Yeezy since 2020, contributing to iconic projects like Kanye’s childhood home in “Donda,” among the brand’s many other concepts. Her approach to architecture has also carried over to her personal aesthetic, where every outfit looks like a conceptual statement of the universe that surrounds both her and the rapper.
Before her relationship with Kanye, Bianca opted for a classic look, both aesthetically and stylistically: long brown hair and fairly standard clothing. Although her appearance has always been exuberant, now she practically lives in Yeezy Neutrals. Her marriage to the artist has brought a drastic transformation in her style: extreme haircuts, transparencies pushed to the limit and hyper-futuristic silhouettes.
Censori is reminiscent in many ways of Kim Kardashian, both in physique and style when West dressed her. When Censori suddenly appeared in the public eye, it escalated to the point where theories arose about how Kanye West’s choice of his new wife is entirely influenced by an extreme obsession with Kim. But, like the eternal “who came first, the chicken or the egg?” debate, we don’t know if Kanye has molded Censori in his image and likeness just as he did with Kim or if the language of Yeezy in general has changed thanks to Bianca Censori.
Whatever the case, Bianca Censori’s stylistic transformation has become a visual manifesto of the YEEZY universe. Her hyper-minimalist aesthetic in form and content (as is the clothing and how much there is) turns the body itself into a canvas, adopting what could be called “The Donda Language”.
The debate remains open: is Bianca herself a trend setter or simply an extension of Kanye’s vision? While comparisons to Kim Kardashian are inevitable, her involvement with Yeezy and her contributions to the brand’s architecture suggest that her role is more active than it might seem.
