Victoria Beckham, the designer, businesswoman and art collector, is once again teaming up with the prestigious auction house Sotheby’s to present an exclusive selection of contemporary works at their boutique in Mayfair, London. This exhibition will be a prelude to the auction taking place in London and New York, marking a milestone in the connection between fashion, art and contemporary culture.

This project becomes a continuation of the collaboration that began in 2018 with Sotheby’s, which highlighted the legacy of the great masters of classical art. However, in this new phase, Beckham redirects his gaze towards contemporary art, selecting some of his favorite pieces by internationally renowned artists such as Yoshitomo Nara, George Condo, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Joan Mitchell, Gerhard Richter, Yves Klein and Richard Prince.
The exhibition’s curation revolves around the exploration of texture, color and scale, aspects that resonate with Beckham’s personal aesthetic. Among the most striking works are Nara’s “Cosmic Eyes (in the Milky Lake),” Basquiat’s “Red Joy,” and a previously unseen piece by Richard Prince from his 2020 High Times series, evoking the deep bond between art and the muse that Beckham represents.

Victoria Beckham’s journey into collecting began with a visit to Elton John’s home in Nice, where a painting by Julian Schnabel sparked her fascination and prompted her to make her first purchase. Part of Schnabel’s Sonanbul series, the work would become the inspiration for the colour palette of her Fall 2024 collection.
“For David and me, collecting is not simply about investment or acquiring aesthetically pleasing objects. It is, above all, a process of emotional connection with the works that bring us true joy. As I delve deeper into art history and progress on my journey as a collector, I am increasingly captivated by its complexity and ability to move,” Beckham said.
