Duo, the Duolingo mascot, has died

This has been communicated by the platform through an official statement on social networks.

The digital world is in shock: Duo Owl has passed away. The unexpected news, as surprising as it is intriguing, was shared on the official X account of the leading language learning platform, accompanied by an image of the mascot with crosses over his eyes.

But… what’s behind this move? The cause of death is unknown at the moment, but Duolingo jokes that perhaps the death occurred while waiting for the daily lesson to be completed. Is this a marketing ploy, a new era for the company, or just a bad joke?

Taking advantage of the Super Bowl and the beef between Kendrick and Drake, Duolingo couldn’t resist alluding to the subject, assuring that they are ‘investigating a Canadian rapper’. They also made reference to the well-known Dua Lipa meme, of course.

The truth is that the app never ceases to amaze. And to say goodbye to Duo, it has organised a virtual ‘funeral’ where users have to do a lesson in the app instead of sending flowers. Are you in?
