On 14 February 2025, Oracle Sisters released Divinations, their long-awaited second album, a work that draws on the experience and reflection that the band has accumulated during their dizzying passage through the world’s stages. After a 2023 of constant travel, moments of euphoria and exhaustion, and a wandering life that swings between chaos and calm, Divinations is a reflection of this process of growth and self-discovery.
The Paris-born band has managed to weave an album that distils their most cherished influences, but at the same time, takes a risk to search for new and daring sounds. Among the references that shape this work are the enveloping sounds of Talking Heads, the melancholy of Richard Hawley, the atmospheric electronica of Air and the somber style of Suicide, among others. On Divinations, each track feels like a sound collage that plays with uncertainty and randomness, making use of toy rhythm machines and an interesting formula: swapping instruments between band members. This experimental touch gives the album a unique freshness, as if you were listening to something familiar but completely new at the same time.
The process behind Divinations is almost as unique as the album itself. After a year full of touring and extreme emotions, Oracle Sisters found serenity in a secluded cottage during the cold winter months. There, the band came together as never before, locked in a small space but full of ideas. The recording of Divinations was an exercise in reconstruction, in piecing together the scattered pieces of their experiences to create something far greater than the sum of its parts.
Lyrically, Divinations is a game of chance. Inspired by the information saturation of our times, its lyrics seem like fragments of a collage of news, scattered stories and references to the culture of constant displacement. However, among this jumble of fragments, a clear message always emerges: personal liberation. The lyrics, like a roll of the dice, escape logic and surrender to the beauty of chaos, of the endless search for meaning in a constantly changing world.
The band has opted to found their own label, Wizard Artists, for the production of this album. In this way, Divinations is not only a musical act, but also a declaration of artistic independence. The aesthetics of the album, constructed from old newspaper clippings and photographs that seem to have been taken on the fly, reflect this same authenticity, creating a visual universe that complements the music in an amalgam of the ephemeral and the permanent.
And if that wasn’t enough, in March 2025, Oracle Sisters will bring their live approach to Spain, with a tour organised by Primavera Sound. This will be the perfect opportunity to discover the evolution of the band and how Divinations comes to life on stage. In this new chapter, Oracle Sisters demonstrate that there are no limits when it comes to experimenting and redefining the sounds of the present. Chaos, as they themselves say, is just the beginning of something much bigger.
