And it does so from an Asian and subversive perspective, transforming traditionally Westernised patterns and symbols.
Unveiled at 180 Studios, Chet Lo‘s latest – and highly anticipated – collection is inspired by the distortion of Western artistic elements on Asian culture. In this way, ‘Modern Antiquity’ plays with visual tropes and reimagines them in bold, contemporary designs, through prints of tigers, clouds and flowers brought to life in both classic and modern patterns.
Textures, as on previous occasions, play a fundamental role in this proposal: from the merino wool picks – one of the designer’s emblems – to the intricate pleats and the plush knit that generates three-dimensional floral motifs. A sort of bridge between the past and the present, where tradition is exposed in an innovative way.
Like Dilara Findikoglu, Chet Lo has also presented an exquisite collaboration with Converse, unveiling a small preview of the silhouettes that will be a hit this season.
