It all started early last year, when the rapper was spotted wearing some of Marc Buchanan‘s most iconic designs, which exude an unmistakable 90s streetwear style. And as his latest studio work came to life, social media began to celebrate his looks, anticipating the big collaboration that was about to come.
What at first seemed like a simple partnership led by the rapper’s team and Christian Rodriguez, in charge of Pelle Pelle‘s global licensing, quickly evolved into a full-blown project. The relationship evolved from being based on custom garments for Carti to a complete collection that fuses his unique aesthetic with the legacy of one of the most representative brands in the history of streetwear.
At the helm of the creative direction is Rose Maria Johansen, the brilliant mind behind Playboi Carti‘s visual universe. She has worked closely with Chris Caruana, head of design, to ensure that each piece in the capsule reflects the artist’s identity and vision.
