Ksubi x Mowalola: The aesthetic distortion we deserve

The universe aligns when two forces with incendiary DNA decide to join codes. Ksubi, the Australian brand that has made denim its battleground, teams up with Mowalola, a London-based designer with Nigerian roots, to launch a capsule that knows no holds barred. Nine pieces that roar between VHS nostalgia, Y2K hedonism and a vibe that screams pure sexy mayhem.

The collection is built around silhouettes that defy the rules: puffy bomber jackets, barely there hot pants, jeans with waists so low they defy logic and cheetah prints in heavy doses. The spirit of Mowa – irreverent, punk, hyper-aesthetic – marks every garment. And the star motif: a biting Doberman as a visual metaphor for what this union represents.

‘Mowa’s approach is one of not asking permission. His energy runs through everything: design, storytelling, presence,’ says the Ksubi team. ‘It was a partnership that just felt right. There was no need to negotiate visions, just amplify them.’ In practice, that meant taking the greatest hits from both houses – the most iconic jeans from Ksubi’s archive and Mowalola’s aggressive aesthetic – and remixing them into a collection designed to break timelines and algorithms.

The details matter: co-branded pocket tags, MOWA leather patches, and co-developed fits that elevate the vocabulary of urban to new frequencies. The lookbook and campaign – shot in L.A. under the direction of Jessica Mae Propper – puts the camera in the hands of the new underground style leaders: Suki Baby, Skaiwater, Strawberry, Chloe Spence, Izzy Spears and Khadi.

The collection is now available on the Ksubi website.
