‘Acne Paper Palais Royal’ is born, a new cultural era in Paris

In a move that confirms its status as a cultural force beyond fashion, the brand has just announced the opening of Acne Paper Palais Royal in one of Paris‘ most iconic locations: the neoclassical arcades of the Palais Royal. With this new venture, Acne Studios reinforces its creative DNA while redrawing the boundaries between fashion, art and contemporary thinking.

Since its origin in Stockholm in 1996 as a multidisciplinary collective, the House has cultivated a sharp aesthetic and a visual narrative that has been able to dialogue with photography, film, design and publishing with impeccable coherence. This new gallery, inspired by the spirit of Acne Paper, presents itself as a lively, dynamic and undisciplined space for creative exchange.

Inside Acne Paper Palais Royal, exhibitions, artist talks, editorial presentations, book signings and cultural events that embrace the intergenerational and the interdisciplinary will coexist. A curatorship that looks both to the titans of modern art and to the emerging voices that are setting the pace of today.

And to inaugurate this permanent gallery? who better than Paul Kooiker? The provocative Dutch photographer whose work inhabits that uncomfortable edge between fashion and conceptual art will present the first exhibition. In this previously unpublished series, Kooiker portrays 42 international students at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
