Jonathan Anderson’s great debut at Dior

The references to Monsieur Dior were constant, but far from being nostalgic, they were an ode to the imagination.

Jonathan Anderson’s great debut at Dior

The new creative director’s first collection plays with the Maison’s history, deciphering and reinventing it.

The Hôtel National des Invalides in Paris hosted what was undoubtedly the most important moment of this edition of Paris Fashion Week. Dior began another chapter in its impeccable history, with Jonathan Anderson in charge of the creative direction of both the men’s and women’s collections. In a room inspired by the velvet upholstered interiors of the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin, the magic happened, and there were great friends of the House such as Robert Pattinson, Sam Nivola, Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Guitarricadelafuente, Daniel Craig, Manu Ríos and Quim Gutiérrez, among many others.

On this occasion, the designer unveiled his first men’s collection for Dior, where nothing is accidental: every silhouette, every detail, every nod to the House’s codes are perfectly thought out. He brought back some of the icons, such as Bar jackets, tailcoats and embroidery, to bring them to the present in his unique vision, mixing the aristocratic with the everyday. The Delf, Caprice and La Cigale are updated; some of the haute couture silhouettes are reborn in cargo shorts; and the Dior Book Tote is adorned with covers of books such as Les Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire or In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.

The references to Monsieur Dior were constant, but far from being nostalgic, they were an ode to the imagination.
