In a new Instagram post, Justin Bieber shared a shirtless photo of himself in the studio recording music with his arms raised. The caption read: ‘17’, with no other context. In addition, the singer changed his username on the social network from @justinbieber to @lilbieber. Given the common use of ‘Lil’ in the rap world, many fans took to the comments to share their theories about new music.
These details, along with the early 2025 reveal of trap-influenced music, have only fueled theories about a new phase of Bieber’s music.
Earlier this year, the Canadian shared a video from the backseat of a car of one of his songs, with the chorus: ‘Okay, okay, okay, okay, I’m shaking off the hate’. The clip is reminiscent of the sound of Playboi Carti, so his fans started using the hashtag #JustinBieberIsComing.
However, in February 2025 rumours began to circulate that Justin Bieber return to music was on hiatus. This is due to several behind-the-scenes photos and videos released, which have led his fans to wonder about the singer’s state of health.
Although no details have been confirmed yet, the video comes after it was reported that Bieber unfollowed Usher on social media. As well as, a number of rumours about his possible comeback.
Bieber’s decision to return to recording music could be related to a major debt owed to concert promoter AEG. This debt originated in 2022, when he cancelled his tour to focus on his health.
According to Belloni, ‘Bieber needs the money and wants to work’, and also points to ‘other pop star expenses’ as possible reasons for his return.
