American Express lands in Amsterdam with a new Centurion® Lounge

American Express has unveiled its next destination in the global expansion of its coveted Centurion® Lounges: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. With this opening – scheduled for 2026 – the company becomes the first global card company to have its own lounge at the iconic Dutch airport, cementing its position as the benchmark for functional luxury for frequent travellers.

The new lounge, located between terminals E and F, will be more than just a resting point: it will be a contemporary ode to the culture, aesthetics and flavour of the Netherlands. Floor-to-ceiling windows, natural light flooding the space, works by local artists and a gastronomic menu reinterpreting traditional Dutch flavours will be just some of the elements that define this multi-sensory experience.

“Today’s travellers want more than comfort: they are looking for authenticity. Our new Centurion Lounge in Amsterdam will offer them just that, a premium experience steeped in local history and culture,” explains Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel.

Inspired by the intimate, geometric architecture of Amsterdam’s canal houses, the lounge will feature a serene palette of blues, watercolour greens and earth tones. The space, which will measure almost 560 m², is designed as a balance between functionality and warmth, where every corner has been designed to generate an atmosphere of ‘gezellig’ – that untranslatable Dutch term that captures cosiness.

A coffee bar, the lounge’s epicentre, will pay homage to the coffee ritual in the local culture: a sacred moment for pausing, chatting and reconnecting. ‘We are delighted to welcome American Express as a pioneer in opening its own lounge at Schiphol,’ says Dave Stroop of the airport’s development team. ‘It will undoubtedly be a milestone that will elevate the experience for our passengers.’

The Centurion Lounge will offer everything that already defines this network of premium spaces: signature cuisine, work and relaxation areas, full connectivity, chargers everywhere, and high-speed Wi-Fi. A hospitality experience designed for those who make the airport an extension of their lifestyle.

Today, the American Express Global Lounge Collection® provides access to more than 1,550 lounges worldwide, including 29 Centurion Lounges. And the expansion doesn’t stop: Tokyo (Haneda), Salt Lake City and Newark are on the radar for 2025 and 2026.
