The Keys to SWAG, Justin Bieber’s New Album

In SWAG, his new album, Justin Bieber gives up the limelight and opts for a shared sound, more focused on the production than on his figure.

The Keys to SWAG, Justin Bieber’s New Album

Without prior announcement or promotional campaign, Justin Bieber has released SWAG, an album that marks a stylistic shift in his recent discography. The sound moves away from the commercial pop of his previous works and towards a rawer aesthetic, marked by processed guitars, minimalist production and direct references to alternative R&B and melodic hip hop.

Throughout the project, Bieber seems more interested in being part of a collective language, where names like Mk.gee and Dijon stand out, than in reasserting himself as a central figure.

In the same vein, there is an evident decision by the singer to assume a secondary role. Something that is also perceived in the way his voice integrates with the instrumentals. He does not seek prominence, but brings cohesion to the whole.

Although the album is not explicitly political, it cannot be separated from the context in which it appears. Justin Bieber’s public image has been the subject of debate for months, and SWAG responds without confrontation, the album neither explains nor justifies.

Bieber merely presents a work with a defined aesthetic direction, where pop acts as a means, not an end. Here are the five songs that shape the album:

5. “ALL I CAN TAKE”

The album’s main track. It begins with a dreamy guitar pop instrumental and gives way to Justin’s soft, pleading voice. It clearly presents the sound formula of the project.

4. “SWEET SPOT” with Sexyy Red

Explicit song but no swearing. Justin sings about sex in an adult tone, while Sexyy Red raps about sex (monogamous on this occasion). One of the poppiest tracks on the album.

3. “DEVOTION” with Dijon

Production with muted percussion, harmonica and country guitar accents. Lyrics include references to the ‘old backyard’ and long journeys. Dijon contributes dynamic and effusive verses. It is one of the most distinct songs on the album.

2. “WALKING AWAY”

Introspective song. Justin talks about past mistakes and reaffirms his commitment to his relationship with Haley Bieber. He sings, ‘Every time you don’t say my name, I remember how much I love it when you say it’.

1. “DAISIES”

The track is produced by Mk.gee and the lyrics focus on a relationship in crisis. Bieber plays with the image of plucking daisy petals, torn between asking for forgiveness and giving space. It is the Swag track that best represents the sound and intent of Justin Bieber latest album.
