New York’s Bubble House goes on sale after 50 years

The Bubble House, located in Lenox Hill on New York’s luxurious Upper East Side, is for sale for the first time in five decades. It is priced at $5.75 million.

The house was redesigned in 1969 by architect Maurice Medcalfe of Hills & Medcalfe. It is a former 19th century brownstone home, transformed with a white stucco facade and twelve convex oval windows. Its space-inspired aesthetic gives it its “bubble” nickname.

The interior has about 440 square meters spread over four floors plus basement, with four bedrooms, five bathrooms and an office at garden level. The layout and finishes maintain the original mid-20th century style. With white carpet, recessed lighting and straight-lined fireplaces.

On a quiet, tree-lined street, the house stands out in contrast to the surrounding brick and limestone homes. Its appearance has attracted attention for decades. The Bubble House is offered for sale through Leslie Garfield. More information is available on her website.
