JAPA VALLEY TOKYO: NIGO, Pharrell and NOT A HOTEL Redefine Urban Hospitality

Pharrell Williams and NIGO, creative advisors to NOT A HOTEL, have unveiled plans for JAPA VALLEY TOKYO — the Japanese firm’s latest cultural project, set to open in 2027.

JAPA VALLEY TOKYO: NIGO, Pharrell and NOT A HOTEL Redefine Urban Hospitality

Inspired by California’s Napa Valley and reimagined through a Japanese lens, the development replaces wine with artisanal sake. Located in the upcoming Yurakucho Park, JAPA VALLEY TOKYO is conceived as a space devoted to art, commerce, and hospitality, featuring a rotating selection of temporary boutiques focused on fashion, design, and gastronomy.

The project marks a shift in NOT A HOTEL ’s usual approach, moving away from its escape-style properties to introduce an urban site tailored specifically for Tokyo. The aim is to weave art into everyday life through a concept deeply rooted in the city’s cultural rhythm.

Architectural renderings reveal a sequence of timber-clad arched structures, topped with lush green roofs and framed by expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. At the heart of the complex will stand KAWS’ reclining COMPANION sculpture — the artist having previously collaborated with the brand on NIGO’s cliffside residence.

JAPA VALLEY TOKYO is expected to open for a limited time in 2027.
