A campaign against censorship, state pressure and attempts to silence culture.
Some festivals are born out of rebellion, and 25 years later they remain true to that spirit. Such is the case with EXIT Festival, the musical giant that emerged from the student protests in Serbia in 2000 and is now returning to its roots with a powerful international campaign: “Save EXIT Freedom”.
The conflict erupted after the festival publicly supported the current student protests in Serbia. The government’s response was swift: a total withdrawal of more than €1.5 million in public funding and sponsorship, political threats and direct pressure.
Through the campaign, which is already active at save.exitfest.org, anyone can do their bit—by purchasing tickets, digital assets, or through direct donations—to ensure the festival’s continuity, protect more than 100 jobs, and, above all, preserve its editorial and artistic independence.
EXIT has twice won the Best Large Festival award at the European Festival Awards and currently holds the prestigious Take a Stand Award for its commitment to freedom of expression.
