KITH and Birkenstock reimagine the Boston with handcrafted braiding

One of the most iconic models from the German footwear brand.

As part of the Fall 2025 collection, we present the Boston Braided, a slip-on that blends tradition and modernity through sophisticated handcrafted braiding that celebrates Birkenstock‘s heritage and anticipates its 50th anniversary in 2026.

The idea comes as no surprise to fans, as Kith introduced this artisanal process to the London Braided in 2023, and now Ronnie Fieg, founder and creative director, is bringing it to the brand’s most recognisable silhouette. “Two years ago, we introduced the hand-braided design to the London model. It’s a very complex process that we’ve been working on to implement in other Birkenstock models. The Boston is arguably the brand’s most iconic model, so it made sense to apply our vision to it next. The result is my favourite Birkenstocks out of all the ones I own,” he says.

The Boston Braided features a premium cowhide suede upper, handcrafted into a unique braided pattern. Each pair incorporates details that elevate the silhouette: Kith Script lettering on the strap, the classic Birkenstock buckle, and braiding that reveals an unexpected rainbow undertone. It comes in three neutral shades—taupe, mocha, and white—that enhance the design’s versatility.
