The Mediterranean, so often praised in literature, now receives a new murmur among its waves: that of Desde un Rincón del Mediterráneo (Ediciones Mala Edad, 2025), the poetic debut of Pablo Amores. At 30 years old, the author delivers a book that is, at the same time, confession and rite of passage: thirty conversations with winds, ghosts and seagulls, written from the intimacy of someone who speaks without witnesses, and yet allows himself to be heard.

The 88-page poetry collection, a paperback edition (11.5 x 18 cm), will be published in August 2025 with a prologue by Jara Fernández (@jajjajara) and design by Pau Geis (@paugeis). Edited by Xabi Fernán (@xabifernan) and the young independent publisher Ediciones Mala Edad, the volume is part of a tradition of poetry that resists the norm and, in its desire to escape meter and rhyme, finds truth in the cadence of the everyday.
Amores deliberately situates himself on the margins: from his corner of Murcia, he writes with the freedom of someone conversing with elemental forces, blurring the boundaries between verse and short story, between the real and the imagined. In these pages, the poet metamorphoses—ghost, wind, earth, salt, branches, cables—to then return to us a multiple voice that is simultaneously deeply personal.
The book opens with a prologue that is almost a poem in itself, an experimental text by Jara Fernández that departs from the usual introduction. It closes with a photographic glossary: snapshots taken by Amores himself during the creative process, which interact with certain poems as if they were prints, traces of a personal diary. This interweaving of word and image gives the work a hybrid texture, a cartography of memory in progress.
The book launch will tour several Spanish cities between October and November: Bilbao (October 3), Madrid (October 18), Barcelona (November 8), and Murcia (November 15). At each event, the author will not only offer a reading of his poetry, but also the experience of sharing this Mediterranean corner that has become a literary territory.
From a Corner of the Mediterranean can be purchased in physical format at the presentations or through the publisher’s website (edicionesmalaedad.bigcartel.com).
