AVAVAV SS26 soon on sale, literally

Beate Karlsson opens the new chapter of AVAVAV by laughing at every designer’s worst nightmare: ending up on the sale rack.

AVAVAV SS26 soon on sale, literally

Under the name of “Soon on Sale”, the new AVAVAV collection is a satirical lookbook in which the models, almost mannequins, pose among chaotic racks at full sale. The setting looks like a total clearance sale in the middle of Gran Vía or any Black Friday, but turned into a sentence.

Behind the satire, the reflection is clear: what is the real value of a garment when the system accelerates its life cycle so much that it is born already discarded? Karlsson points to the absurdity of the industry: investing in fashion shows that are impossible to justify, designing at inhuman speeds, seeing how pieces end up discounted before they even reach the store. An exhausting chain where the new becomes old in an instant. We are moving too fast.

The collection plays precisely with this contradiction: the search for authenticity, for something that lasts long enough in the face of a system that imposes its own dizzying rhythms. At this crossroads between humor and exhaustion, AVAVAV sharpens its most incisive tone for another season.

But beyond social criticism, the collection is pure gothic style with a lot of drip. We see tailored pieces with satirical slogans, shiny embroidery, sculptural silhouettes… As for footwear, the Moonrubber Cosmic boot stands out, seemingly designed to survive on a post-consumer planet.

In a fast-paced market where everything ends up in the sales section, Karlsson turns that anxiety into a fierce critique of consumption which, paradoxically, continues to be desired as fashion.
