Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar have just made history in rap with “goosebumps.” Their collaboration has been certified 17× platinum by the RIAA. This makes it the most certified rap song in the United States, surpassing Drake’s “God’s Plan,” which reached 16× platinum.

Released in December 2016 as part of the album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, “goosebumps” won over critics and the public alike. It reached number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 21 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and number 1 on the Rhythmic Chart. The combination of Travis Scott’s hypnotic flow and Kendrick Lamar’s sharp verse created a hit that continues to amass streams, with over 2.95 billion plays on Spotify.

This record reinforces the legacy of Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, an album often overshadowed by Astroworld, but full of tracks that endure. For Kendrick Lamar, “goosebumps” is another example of how he can turn any collaboration into an instant classic.

Although “God’s Plan” remains a cultural phenomenon, “goosebumps” now stands alongside multi-platinum songs across all genres, such as Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”, Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive”, and Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey”, as well as giants like Journey and Ed Sheeran.

With this certification, Scott and Lamar’s “goosebumps” not only enters rap history but is cemented as a contemporary anthem that continues to resonate in music and popular culture.
