Charli XCX surprised her fans with the announcement of her first feature film, The Moment. This production is set to be released in 2026 and is expected to become one of the most talked-about premieres of the year.
The announcement came via her Instagram account with a teaser that read: “based on an original idea by Charli xcx. The Moment. coming 2026”. In addition to confirming the film, the clip revealed a star-studded cast that has sparked both excitement and debate among fans.
According to the official synopsis, The Moment tells the story of “a rising pop star navigating the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.” The storyline, clearly self-referential, marks the first film project under Studio365, Charli XCX’s newly founded production company. The singer will not only star in the film but also serve as its producer.
Direction is in the hands of Aiden Zamiri, a photographer and filmmaker from Glasgow. This will be his feature film directorial debut. Zamiri has previously collaborated with Charli on the music videos for “360” and “Guess”. As such, the film is expected to maintain the aesthetic the duo has developed over the years. The screenplay has been co-written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, a writer who has contributed to publications including i-D and Dazed.
On the music front, Charli has enlisted A.G. Cook, her long-time collaborator and a key figure behind the sound of her acclaimed album Brat. Cook will compose the film’s original score.
The cast of The Moment includes notable names such as Alexander Skarsgård, Rachel Sennott, Kate Berlant, Rish Shah, Isaac Cole Powell, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Mel Ottenberg, Tish Weinstock, and Shygirl.
Kylie Jenner Makes Her Acting Debut
The announcement also confirmed that Kylie Jenner will make her acting debut in the project. This detail has not gone unnoticed. Jenner’s casting has sparked mixed reactions. Some celebrate the ambition and mainstream reach of the project. Others question whether it aligns with the more underground identity that has historically defined Charli. Still, some suggest that her inclusion could be an intentional commentary on fame and its portrayal.
The Moment does not yet have an official release date. However, it is expected to hit cinemas in 2026 under the A24 banner.

The Moment is the first project from Studio365, the production company founded by Charli XCX, and marks her expansion beyond music. The artist has spent years studying film before embarking on this venture, participating in shoots, working with renowned directors, and exploring different genres.
Although she already has acting experience in films such as Faces of Death, Erupcja and 100 Nights of Hero, The Moment represents her most personal and ambitious project yet, featuring a cast that blends pop, independent cinema, and mainstream entertainment.
