The acclaimed designer won the Lifetime Achievement Award during the seventh edition of the event.
In a Doha illuminated by the magnetism of global fashion, Miuccia Prada became the absolute star at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), an enclave that seems to have been designed to celebrate both tradition and the future, just as Prada has been doing for decades. In the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, honorary president of FTA, the Italian designer received one of the industry’s most important awards.
The award was presented by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums and co-chairperson of Fashion Trust Arabia. A figure directly linked to the region’s contemporary cultural ecosystem, whose vision is perfectly aligned with Prada‘s philosophy.
It comes as no surprise that the FTA has chosen Miuccia. Her legacy is one of the most solid, influential and disruptive of recent decades. She has managed to transform contemporary fashion through an intellectual approach to design, in a field where concept and functionality are intertwined without fiction. Prada continually demonstrates that fashion can be ugly, beautiful, uncomfortable, brilliant and radical… All at the same time. And yet still become an object of global desire.
