The Danish firm arrives in one of London’s most well-kept neighbourhoods.
Tekla continues to consolidate its visual and sensory language with the opening of its first international store, transcending the classic idea of retail to become a physical extension of its universe.
Located on Marylebone High Street, the space occupies what was once a bank branch, an architectural structure that has now been reimagined with natural textures and fine lines. The interior design project, by Mentzer Ottenstein (Copenhagen), has completely transformed the building, taking inspiration from the flagship store in Denmark.
For Charlie Hedin, founder and creative director of the brand, ‘British and Scandinavian design share an appreciation for natural materials and craftsmanship, but what was most inspiring was the playful exchange between these two sensibilities, which allowed us to find unexpected ways to combine British ingenuity with Scandinavian clarity.’
