BE@RBRICK celebrates the 30th anniversary of Tamagotchi

A true cultural landmark.

To commemorate 30 years of Tamagotchi, the digital phenomenon that marked the childhood (and obsession) of an entire generation, BE@RBRICK and Bandai are joining forces in a historic collaboration based on 90s nostalgia, cult design and collectability.

The launch will take place as part of the Tamagotchi Grand Exhibition, a commemorative event to be held at the Roppongi Museum in Tokyo, which will serve as the epicentre of this global celebration. However, the collection will only be available on 7 and 10 January, coinciding with the key dates of the anniversary of the device that revolutionised the concept of digital pets back in 1996.

For this special collaboration, both brands drew inspiration directly from the Original Tamagotchi series, taking as their reference the designs influenced by the Western versions of the device and the special edition “New Species Discovered!!”. The result is a hybrid where the pixelated universe of Tamagotchi converses with the iconic silhouette of BE@RBRICK, offering a true collector’s item.

The digital pets and the bear appear in synchronised poses, sharing the limelight in a design that appeals both to collective emotional memory and contemporary desire. And as a final nod, each Tamagotchi comes in a personalised box with a glossy finish and an identifying label that elevates the object.

The collaboration comes in two formats designed for different audiences: the BE@ARBRICK x Tamagotchi, a fully functional device that recreates the original Tamagotchi experience; and the BE@RBRICK x Tamagotchi 400%, a large-format figure that turns the crossover into a true work of art.
