“I don’t want to reconcile with my family.”
The conflict within the Beckham family is no longer a rumour. Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has shared several posts on Instagram accusing his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola Peltz.
In his messages, Brooklyn says he does not want to reconcile with his family. Instead, he explains that, for the first time in his life, he is making decisions without feeling controlled. According to him, he stepped away after years of public narratives that did not reflect reality. “I’m not being manipulated. I’m standing up for who I am,” he wrote. In doing so, he questioned the image of a united family projected on social media.
Meanwhile, tensions grew after his wedding. On New Year’s Day, David Beckham publicly acknowledged Romeo, Cruz and Harper but did not mention Brooklyn. As a result, many saw the omission as confirmation of a deeper rift.
Brooklyn also accuses his parents of interfering in his relationship before the marriage. For example, he claims that Victoria Beckham pulled out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute. In addition, he says they pressured him to sign away the rights to his name ahead of the wedding. According to Brooklyn, his refusal to sign changed the relationship completely.
He also recalls another uncomfortable moment during the wedding. Brooklyn says his first dance with Nicola was interrupted when Marc Anthony called them onto the stage. At that point, his mother joined the dance in what he describes as an inappropriate way. “I’ve never felt so humiliated in my life,” he wrote.
Finally, Brooklyn rejects the idea that Nicola controls him. On the contrary, he says that since distancing himself from his family, the anxiety he struggled with for years has eased. Although Victoria recently attempted to reach out by sharing an old family photo, reports from outlets such as Page Six suggest the gesture did not heal the rift.
For now, Brooklyn Beckham remains firm in his position, prioritising his marriage and personal wellbeing, even if that means staying distant from his family.
