This was announced by the French fashion house in an official statement.
Following the departure of Nicolas Di Felice, Courrèges is embarking on a new chapter in its history with the appointment of Drew Henry as its new creative director, a role he will take up in May. The 38-year-old South African designer, originally from Mpumalanga, trained at LISOF (Johannesburg), where he developed a technical foundation in pattern-making and tailoring. He later moved to London to continue his studies at Central Saint Martins, where he graduated with a Master’s in Fashion in 2014 under the tutelage of Louise Wilson OBE, marking the start of a career that has continued to rise within the industry.
His career is closely linked to some of the most influential names in contemporary design. He began at Céline during the Phoebe Philo era, a period that defined an entire generation of creatives. He later took on the role of head of ready-to-wear design at JW Anderson, before reuniting with Philo in 2020 as head of design for the launch of her eponymous brand. In 2023, he joined Burberry as senior design director under the leadership of Daniel Lee.
Henry is now joining Courrèges with the aim of continuing the brand’s historic legacy. The date for his debut has already been set: he will present his first collection on the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week in September.
