CHANEL returns to Biarritz with a pop-up boutique

Rue Gardères will host this exhibition until 27 September.

In 1915, Gabrielle Chanel opened her first haute couture house in the Villa de Larralde in Biarritz, just a stone’s throw from the casino, the grand hotels and the beach. There, as well as setting up a boutique and a workshop, she pioneered a new way of dressing. And that is how the House of CHANEL was born.

Today, the House returns to the city with a pop-up boutique at 3 Rue Gardères, open until 27 September. This marks CHANEL’s first dedicated presence in Biarritz since its early days.

The Art Deco-inspired space serves as a bridge between the Maison’s heritage and the surrounding architecture. Its façade, with its classical proportions and understated lines, features three shop windows framed by pilasters, a white awning and half-moon-shaped windows that crown the structure.

The first area is dedicated to accessories, with staircases, balustrades, shelving, stone floors, screens and mirrors featuring geometric patterns, creating a narrative of shapes and reflections. The second, dedicated to ready-to-wear, embraces a more striking minimalism. Black-chamfered columns and a burgundy counter frame a sober space where the product takes centre stage.
