Y-3, the iconic fusion between adidas and visionary designer Yohji Yamamoto, makes a triumphant return to New York City for FW24. This return is a celebration of its international spirit, born from the collaboration between German precision and Yamamoto’s nomadic creativity, flowing between Tokyo and Paris. In the early 2010s, Y-3 dazzled at New York Fashion Week before moving to Paris. This year, the collection entitled “A Love Letter to New York” pays homage to the city that never sleeps.
The campaign, captured by Max Vadukul, who previously immortalised Yamamoto’s Fall/Winter collection in New York in 1984, offers a timeless vision against the city’s unmistakable skyline. The protagonists, Gabbriette and A$AP Nast, are pillars of contemporary fashion who embody the energy and diversity of New York. In this collection, Y-3 emphasises movement and the concept of uniformity, seemingly inspired by the iconic all-black “New York uniform”.
In one image, Gabbriette wears a black trench coat over a tracksuit jacket, complemented by platform leather boots adorned with adidas Three Stripes. The model also wears a one-sleeved mesh dress with adidas platforms. A$AP Nast is no slouch, wearing the same platform boots along with a hooded leather coat over a Y-3 jacket. Each piece in the collection features Yamamoto’s signature sleek, oversized tailoring.
Y-3 unveils episode 2 of SS24 in which it highlights the brand’s focus on high-end sportswear.
