A summer evening with Adèle Exarchopoulos by Lacoste

Lacoste gets into bed with Adèle Exarchopoulos: a summer evening, a pool party and zero need to pose for the camera.

A summer evening with Adèle Exarchopoulos by Lacoste

After the global launch of Play With Icons, Lacoste leaves behind the capitalized logo and goes into August siesta (or pool party) mode.

The campaign is called “A summer afternoon with Adèle” and is directed by Alexandr Bassard, with creative direction by Tina Kunakey and photography by Martin Parr. Adèle wakes up in a room where the sun is streaming in. She is disheveled, with a white polo shirt slung off her shoulder, no make-up evident. Looking at the camera without trying hard to catch it, she stretches, puts on glasses, drinks water, fans herself. She moves as if she doesn’t know that someone is filming… although everything is meticulously taken care of.

The styling is by Sarah de Mavaleix, who plays with classic Lacoste garments – polo, skirt, sweater – but taken to the field of intimacy. All white, oversized, as if stolen from the closet of someone you like. And that’s kind of the general mood: having fun.

The camera moves as if it a friend in the party was carrying it. Flashes that look like they come out of a compact, soft zooms, short shots that feel close. There is a permanent feeling throughout the narrative: it’s summer, it’s hot, and there is no rush. It’s just a hot afternoon and Adèle doing what she does best: being without forcing anything.
