The collaboration between adidas and Balenciaga has been temporarily suspended due to Demna Gvasalia’s controversial Gift Shop campaign.
The reason has to do with recent unfortunate decisions by the Kering-owned brand. Most of the pre-orders have been cancelled, including those for the aged-effect Stan Smiths.
The German company sent an email to those who had placed these orders, apologising and clarifying that the brand is re-evaluating its relationship with Balenciaga, and will continue to report on the decision.
The Balenciaga case seems to have generated a tsunami of opinion in the fashion landscape that is affecting every relationship the brand has with other brands. How will this story end?
