The Hotel Arts Barcelona continues to support the talent of young artists such as Alba Galocha, who is pleased to inaugurate her exhibition in the gallery located in the lobby of the hotel with the help of We Collect.
‘El cuerpo sabe, la cabeza se resiste’ will be on display until 29 April and can be enjoyed by both hotel guests and the local public in Barcelona.
For the Galician artist, her main source of inspiration is the roots and the land, the moment and its memory. In the words of the prestigious Spanish art curator Semíramis González, this exhibition shows how an artist is capable of deploying media, techniques and forms through a process, demonstrating a plastic quality and a creative commitment beyond herself.
In her work, Alba Galocha explores numerous techniques such as textiles or embroidery, ceramics, photography and drawing, among others. Thanks to the combination of these techniques, she creates a kind of travel diary through which she has drawn a map of her emotions.
In ‘El cuerpo sabe, la cabeza se resiste’ visitors to the Hotel Arts Barcelona will be able to admire Alba‘s performance: abstract figures in thread unfold across the canvases, abandoning tension to let themselves be carried away by the form and by the body, by a conscious repose that composes what we now see before us.
“My work is very autobiographical and has a lot of things about me in it. I like to be very aware of the things that happen around me when I’m somewhere. Walking around awake, attentive to everything that surrounds me, paying attention to the details,” says the artist herself.
