Located on 57th Street, it stands as the ultimate meeting point where retail, culture and gastronomy converge.
After years of renovation of its iconic flagship store on Fifth Avenue, Louis Vuitton is going for an immersive experience with the opening of a temporary shop on 57th Street in New York. This new destination not only positions itself as the brand’s largest in the country, but also introduces pioneering concepts: the first Louis Vuitton café in the U.S., an artisanal chocolate shop, a global culinary offering and an exclusive capsule collection inspired by the city. Beyond a retail space, the Maison seeks to encapsulate its historical link to the city that never sleeps and its spirit of constant reinvention.
Since landing in the United States in 1898, the French fashion house has established a special connection with the Big Apple, reinterpreting French art de vivre with a local twist. The opening of its first shop on 57th Street in 1980 marked a milestone in its global expansion and today that relationship is renewed with a space that celebrates both its heritage and the dynamism of New York.
Located in an iconic Art Deco building, the boutique pays homage to its architectural heritage while reimagining the interior with a monumental atrium designed by Shohei Shigematsu (OMA). This space features dizzying 16-metre sculptures, where the iconic Courrier Lozine 90 boots form zigzag structures that reflect strength and lightness.
Another highlight is an 18-metre wall constructed from iconic mirrored bags such as the Speedy and Keepall, creating a dynamic visual effect that dialogues with murals by artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami and collaborations with big names in the industry such as Supreme.
The interior design is an exquisite mix of industrial and warm: exposed concrete, luxurious carpets and carefully selected vintage furniture, along with design pieces by Charlotte Perriand, Carlo Mollino and other leading names.
The first floor is dedicated to leather products, from a wide selection of bags and lifestyle items to a new travel room highlighting the Maison‘s DNA, with a craftsman specialising in personalisation available. The feminine universe surrounds the perimeter of the first floor, while the masculine universe occupies the third floor. The fifth floor is divided between private lounge spaces including three intimate lounges and an area for the Objets Nomades and Art de la Tablecollections. Uniquely, this floor houses a secret loft-style room, accessible from one of the lounges. Here, the main focus will be on Louis Vuitton’s high-end watches and jewellery.
The fourth floor surprises with a unique proposal that fuses French elegance with New York atmosphere. With a loft design and a library curated by Ian Luna, the café becomes a cultural and gastronomic meeting point. The books include works by artists linked to LV such as Jeff Koons and Stephen Sprouse, along with iconic titles on art, fashion and architecture.
The menu, designed by Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric, reinvents the concept of ‘snacking luxury’. Dishes such as truffle ravioli with Monogram prints and Damier tartlets elevate the everyday to the extraordinary. Croque sandwiches, which were a hit in Paris, will make their transatlantic debut. And, of course, the burger will get the LVtreatment. For New York, they have developed an innovative gastronomic approach with the support of young local talents, Christophe Bellanca and Marie George, who lead Le Café Louis Vuitton.
There is also room for sweets. Fine chocolate has become another expression of the house’s savoir-faire. Following its success in Paris, Singapore and Shanghai, Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton opens its first U. S. location and presents a range of exclusive bars and specialities handcrafted by the renowned pastry chef and his team in the Pariskitchens.
Last but not least, there is an exclusive capsule collection designed to celebrate this milestone in style. It encompasses men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, leather goods, accessories and gifts as a tribute to New York City style.
Collectible bags include the newly launched Neverfull Inside Out in taxi yellow, the Speedy Soft with yellow lining and fun labels, the Capucines adorned with the city’s skyscrapers and the GO14 in a shimmering light gold. Vivienne returns as a collectible figurine inspired by the New York State of Mind, as well as appearing on small leather goods, a silk bandeau and other items ideal for gift giving.
Within the men’s capsule, the SS25 pre-collection codes are rediscovered, inspired by the iconography of life in the big city. The iconic NYC number plate is reduced to the size of a charm to adorn the Avenue Slingbag and Keepall, or as an engraving on the Slender wallet, all in the Monogram Héritage line in yellow. The number plate reads ‘LV since 1854’, a playful nod to the Maison‘s founding date.
Ultimately, Louis Vuitton 57th Street NYC is not just a shop; it is a destination that embodies the fusion of luxury, culture and creativity. A tribute to New York and a statement that, for LV, the retail of the future is a multi-sensory experience that transcends shopping.
