Ester Expósito and Anna Castillo are, without a doubt, two of the most sought-after Spanish actresses of the moment. Ester, who rose to worldwide fame with Élite, has participated in recent years in Veneno, Alguien tiene que morir, Venus and has recently premiered with Bandidos. As for Anna, in recent months she has had a double hit on Netflix with the miniseries A Perfect Tale and the film Nowhere, and is now in the midst of filming Her Majesty for Prime Video.
The actresses have made time in their schedules to star in Carlota Pereda’s first series, a vampire thriller. In the words of the creator, Que muera el amor is “a visceral and romantic proposal” centred on a vampire revenge tale. The plot follows Sese, who can’t get over her ex, even though he has buried her alive for 90 years. To survive eternal love, she must navigate our narcissistic modern world, take on the vampire system and kill her.
The series will be about a woman struggling to get out of a toxic relationship, a very topical theme with the added supernatural element of a romance between two female vampires. “Vampires are my favourite monsters, because of their wild instincts, forbidden desire and romanticism. These characteristics collide with the modern world, where love and desire are no longer seen as mysterious forces capable of tearing us apart, but as something to be valued”.
