On 22 November, the Marta Ortega Pérez Foundation will open in A Coruña Wonderland, the first retrospective dedicated in Spain to the American photographer Annie Leibovitz. The exhibition will run until 1 May 2026. It also marks a milestone in the cultural programme promoted by Marta Ortega, as it will be the Foundation’s first exhibition centred on a woman.
The announcement comes as the David Bailey exhibition closes. Since 2021, the Foundation has transformed the Muelle de Batería into a stage for major photography and fashion projects, with names such as Peter Lindbergh, Steven Meisel and Paolo Roversi. Now it is Leibovitz’s turn, widely regarded as one of the most influential visual storytellers of the past fifty years.
The exhibition will trace her career through different stages, from her early works and the Rolling Stones tour to her most iconic portraits for magazines such as Vogue. It will also feature previously unseen works, audiovisual material and a documentary with contributions from Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen and Gloria Steinem. The accompanying publication will direct its proceeds to “Future Stories”, a programme supporting emerging creators.
Marta Ortega has highlighted Annie Leibovitz’s relevance as a portraitist and her ability to portray women of all ages with dignity and strength. With Wonderland, the MOP Foundation reinforces its aim of consolidating A Coruña as an international reference point in photography and fashion.
