It doesn’t take an expert to realise that Anuel was the meme of ‘La Velada del Año 4’. As expected, the artist didn’t keep quiet and has come out to defend himself from the criticism and Ibai’s statements through his social networks. Although, to be honest, we’re not really sure if his response has solved anything or made it even worse.
During his show, several technical errors in the production came to light, and one of the most critical moments was when the ‘autotune’ exposed his real voice, a moment that quickly went viral on social media. In fact, that fragment has become the meme of the weekend and his voice has even been compared to that of ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’.
Anuel has uploaded a video talking to his fans live on his Instagram explaining why his voice sounded different and the reason for his delay on stage. The artist’s performance was marked by boos and discontent from the audience, not to mention the fact that he left the stage early and amidst a shower of glasses and even a spontaneous person who almost assaulted him.
‘That Ibai, that scratcher, he was making jokes with my name before I came out. Fuck, I was only five minutes late. They didn’t let my DJ throw the show for me, they didn’t let my engineer do my voice. That’s not my voice, those bastards controlled everything,’ Anuel explained. ‘When I showed him the cars, that Ibai, he told me ‘stay humble’. Eat a bug cabr*n. I fucked myself to have what I have. I really come from the bottom. They were planning on giving me that voice. That little squirrel voice, they were planning to sabotage my career’.
After the event, Ibai addressed his followers on social media to thank everyone involved in the production. He acknowledged the criticism about the closing of the event by Anuel, marked by untimeliness and the short performance by Anuel, who excused himself by saying that he was sick and that several problems had accumulated, including some related to the production itself.
‘I already have an end to the event in mind in case I do the next evening. I’ll make it up to you,’ Ibai wrote on X, seeking to calm fans and promising improvements for future editions of La Velada del Año. Ibai joked in response to some users about the salary he had ‘saved’ with Anuel, implying that he wasn’t going to get paid, or in reference to the lesson he had taken away from all this: ‘Today I’ve learned more than in my whole fucking life’.
