Apple is building a new version of the MacBook Pro which, to our surprise, will feature an OLED and touchscreen display.
The idea obviously goes against what Steve Jobs himself thought years ago. The Apple founder always resisted a Mac with a touchscreen because, in his view, it was not a device that could be used in this way. In fact, it’s one of the reasons for the iPad, which has an operating system entirely dedicated to the touch experience.
One of the reasons Apple would be betting on integrating a touchscreen into the Mac is because sales of its computers have increased significantly over the last few years. Today, in fact, the Mac generates more revenue than the iPad. Also, macOS has gradually adopted features from mobile operating systems.
The first model to benefit from this strategy would be the MacBook Pro. The current prototype supposedly retains the same design that we have known for a couple of years. Only this new release would differ by integrating a touch screen and having support for the same gestures that are already present in the iPhone and iPad.
