April 2024: the 6 emerging brands of the month

In order to make sure that all these interesting projects don’t get lost on our Instagram, every month we choose 6 emerging brands and give them their space on HIGHXTAR. Here are the ones for April 2024!

1. Raga Malak

Raga Malak, founded by Gadir Rajab and Raquelle Saba, fuses avant-garde design with the Lebanese roots of its creators. Its essence is nourished by the streets of Beirut, where its roots took shape. Faced with political and economic turmoil in their region, the team was forced to relocate to Australia. Despite this geographical shift, the brand held on to its Eastern identity, seeing it as fundamental to conveying its message.

Raga Malak’s designs are a reflection of this fusion of cultures and styles. From dazzling dresses to tops and corsets, sensual miniskirts to seductive femme fatale bikinis, each piece carries the vibrant energy and essence of her Lebanese heritage.

2. Joshua Jamal

Joshua Jamal is mainly known for his work as a stylist, primarily at Ssense; but the creative also curates his own pieces and makes designs with existing clothing. Most of his designs are military inspired with a mix of grunge and raw aesthetics. He already has notable names in the music industry such as The Kid Laroi and Playboi Carti wearing his NBHD shorts.

3. No Scene Girls

If you were to create a closet out of socks, it would be this brand founded by Sofia(@slowwmafia). The Toronto-based stylist and creative has created a universe that could well have come from the mind of Kanye West. In fact, the rapper’s wife, Bianca Censori, wears some No Scene Girls designs.

4. Karla Laidlaw

Founded in 2019, Karlaidlaw is a streetwear brand run by Karla Laidlaw,on the lands of the Australian Aboriginal Kulin Nation. Each design goes through several processes to reach its final stage, with fabric experimentation being a big area of focus for the brand, as it tries to rethink the norm, and give customers different pieces.

5. Capenci

Sarah Pashandi is the creative mind behind this new brand that’s blowing up among fashion outsiders on Instagram. There are several interesting pieces in the brand, ranging from garments with large-scale lettering to fur items like hoodies or jackets. Capenci’s visual universe is based on a noisy, unrefined, old-movie feel.

6. nNOR

The brand founded by Lauren Ibbs is focused on the design of conceptual pieces that address femininity from a narrative of comfort and simplicity. Defined by avant-garde and minimalist silhouettes, such as the donut shape that invades their garments, the intention of the proposal is to change the already obsolete conception of female sexuality and welcome a new energy.
