Are asymmetrical bags the new fashion aesthetic obsession?

The exploration of shapes has become a constant for contemporary designers who, after having experimented with countless rectangular, round or cubic versions, now want to transcend through asymmetry. Without knowing yet if all these constructions and/or shapes have already fallen into obsolescence dictated by algorithms or not, what is clear is that today a kind of ode to aesthetic irregularity is taking place within fashion.

From Kiko Kostadinov’s “Trivia” interpretation to the Mugler Spiral or the Coperni Swipe, which seem to have been sculpted in full motion, they are impregnated with innovative elements such as twisted contours or experimental zippers for this season. Although if there has been one brand that has confirmed or settled this aesthetic trend, it has been Gucci through the presentation of its sideways version of its Satchel model from 1995. A remastering with which starred the apotheosis of this type of outsider bags that could have been designed metaphorically as a reflection of the society in which we live. Are these asymmetrical bags a mirror of the current instability?

In the midst of this over-saturated scenario of viral bags, such as Uniqlo’s nylon body bag, the real agents of change or resilient people who end up influencing trends are those who constantly rebel against the aesthetic uniformity that inhabits the streets through unusual creations that, beyond their functional essence, become design objects that end up transmitting or provoking some kind of emotion or reaction.
