In the universe of the New York brand, the figure of the butterfly appears very frequently, and in the lookbook of its Pre-Fall 2023 collection captured by Roe Ethridge we can see that it is the main theme of the season.
Designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Pansczczyk reimagine the butterfly silhouette in the form of exaggerated lapels on jackets, evening gowns and hats, among others. Taking inspiration from the delicate natural beauty of the winged creature, dresses cinched to the curves of the body include brightly colored stripes, and tops mimic the insect’s shape with an open halter bodice and wide neckline. Untreated Japanese denim jackets and pants are embellished with perfectly placed crystal gems.
In addition, AREA’s collection brings back the psychedelic energy of the 70s with its striking pink and purple tones in two-piece ensembles, green flared pants with pink waistbands and bomber jackets with mini wings. Interesting beige plaid suits mimic the holes of a moth, the “ugly sister” of the butterfly, sporting an attractive worn-in look.
Speaking of fashion, Carhartt WIP SS23 “Detour” celebrates nature and summer.
