Danish designer Astrid Andersen presented her proposal FW19. A collection that is very different from what we were used to.
Wide brim hats and fine tailoring combined with the aesthetics that define the brand. Andersen’s key ingredients – the fabric inserts it wisely combines with streetwear’s own forms, something that was pioneered a decade ago and that other designers have thrown themselves at copying – were present.
As for the cotton fabrics, they provided the organic point, moving us away from the synthetic at times. Another novelty is that this time their models were not wearing Nike shoes as usual, Astrid opted for Dr. Martens.
Astrid Andersen FW19
Undoubtedly this has been a transitional collection and a bit confusing for all those who expected Andersen to do the usual. But there is no doubt that this offer showed a creative development, a step forward and a declaration of intentions.
For collections like this Astrid remains one of our favorites.
