The Swiss manufacturer is once again raising the bar, and this time it is looking upwards.

Audemars Piguet is pleased to present its new ceramic shade ‘Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50’, which pays homage to the starry firmament of La Vallée de Joux, the birthplace of the Maison and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for generations of visionary watchmakers.

This deep, evocative blue is not new in the history of Audemars Piguet, as it was the signature identity of the first Royal Oak in 1972, created by Gerald Genta himself. Now, fifty years later, that same blue is back, reinterpreted in a contemporary key, but this time coated in high-tech ceramic. And the result is truly astonishing: three new pieces that fuse tradition, extreme engineering and galactic aesthetics.

Rewriting the past with materials from the future

After years of research, Audemars Piguet has succeeded in translating the ‘Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50’ – originally developed using chemical lacquering techniques – into ceramic, a material as resistant as it is sophisticated. This evolution, in addition to maintaining the chromatic intensity that made this blue a legend, manages to take it to another level. Literally.

Machined, synthesised, finished by hand. Each ceramic component passes through a chain of technical and artisanal processes where millimetric precision blends exquisitely with aesthetic sensibility. It is then that these satin-finished and polished surfaces emerge, playing with light, enhancing the iconic geometries of the Royal Oak and the Royal Oak Offshore.

The new Bleu Nuit icons

The new ceramics are available in three exceptional models that capture AP‘s unmistakable know-how:

  • Royal Oak Double Skeletonised Flywheel (41mm): Pure mechanical precision dressed in deep blue. The skeleton movement is exposed under sapphire crystal, enhanced by pink gold details. At its heart beats Calibre 3132 with a double balance, a technical jewel symbolising the watchmaker’s obsession with excellence.
  • Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Automatic (42mm): Sporty spirit with a monochrome attitude. The entire case, ‘Méga Tapisserie’ dial and bracelet breathe Bleu Nuit. Calibre 4404 provides functionality with its integrated flyback chronograph, while steel and titanium accents add contrast and robustness.
  • Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Automatic (43mm): The most daring and contrasting version. Steel and ceramic face each other in a play of textures replicated on the dial and pushers. Equipped with Calibre 4401 and a matching calfskin strap, this model is an ode to performance with a designer soul.
