After a summer where the scene lit up with collaborations with FERG, Union LA and Badfriend, Awake NY is back for FW24 with a collection that doesn’t just dress, it tells a story. With Angelo Baque at the helm, the brand pays homage to the New York roots that saw it born, bringing to the table an explosion of prints, patterns and colors that capture the energy of the city that never sleeps.
The highlight of this season is Awake NY’s long-awaited first collaboration with Vanson, redefining the iconic Star Jacket in a chromatic mix that screams New York: red, blue, yellow, black and white, with the Awake NY crown logo dominating the chest among Vanson’s signature motorsport details.
Alongside this, a series of pieces that expand the storytelling: jackets in camouflage and reptile prints, tie-dyed sweaters that seem to come from a psychedelic dream, graphic t-shirts that capture the street and embroidered denim sets that take Awake NY’s “100%” to another level.
The narrative goes beyond the clothes; it delves into Baque’s musical memory. From the raw beats of Smif-N-Wessun’s Dah Shinin’, which resonated in the train cars that took him from Lefferts Boulevard in Queens, through Brooklyn, to the heart of Manhattan, to the echoes of Sons of Kemet’s Your Queen is a Reptile and the subversive ideas of Kodwo Eshun.
The FW24 collection will debut first at the brand’s flagship store at 62 Orchard St on Friday, September 6, before landing on its webstore the following week.
