Awake NY has given the classic Merrell 1TRL Jungle Moc a streetwear twist. The New York-based brand has made an old-school hiking shoe feel brand new.
Angelo Baque of Awake NY has been redesigning trainers for brands like Reebok, ASICS and Timberland for years. Now he’s back with a collaboration with performance shoe brand Merrell. This unexpected union has led to the classic 1TRL Jungle Moc model being turned into a more urban trainer.
A laceless style that is sure to strike a chord with many millennials born in the 90s. The Jungle Moc contrasts Merrell’s most popular current model, the futuristic Hydro Moc, making it an undeniably unique collaboration option.
The upper is constructed from a soft stone-tone nubuck with the Awake NY logo embossed on the lateral side. The midsole and outsole features an oval shape characteristic of tracking boots. Another feature would be the touch of orange that decorates the trainers.
The Awake NY x Merrell 1TRL Jungle Moc will be released via the Awake NY web shop and Dover Street Market on June 18.
