The announcement of Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl Halftime Show was made during the break of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers, following a prior teaser from the NFL on social media. The confirmation comes via Apple Music and Roc Nation, consolidating the performance as the only live show the artist will give in the United States within this cycle.

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has just concluded his residency in Puerto Rico and is preparing to embark on his new world tour. In his own words: “this is for my people, my culture and our history.”

The tradition of this show places him within a lineage of artists who have used the halftime as a global platform. Names such as Usher, Rihanna, Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar —the latter with a performance that earned him an Emmy— reinforce the cultural magnitude of the event.

Beyond sport, the Halftime Show once again presents itself as a space of cultural visibility, where music is expressed as a vehicle of identity and representation.
