Bad Gyal premieres her new single Real G with Quevedo, one of the Spanish artists with more projection during this last year. Real G is a club-oriented track that brings a new approach in terms of sound from Taiko and Sky Rompiendo el Bajo on production and Merca Bae on additional production.
The track is a tribute to Real G, a term used in the hip hop community to define people who are true to their style, who don’t make up their essence to please others and who, despite the circumstances, are confident in themselves. Real G also refers to Ñengo Flow, author of the album Real G 4 Life, an influence for both artists.
Real G features an audiovisual piece directed by Javier Peralvo and produced by Belledenuit, the Barcelona studio behind videos such as Blin Blin, Pussy, Judas and Flow 2000 Remix. The idea for the video was born from the influence that urban music has on the younger generations.
The video aims to reduce the concept of Real G to its purest state, adding another layer to the original meaning that linked it directly to the street. Bad Gyal and Quevedo proclaim themselves as judges of urban energy and through an audition they will choose the future Real G, where the key to their success will be based on being yourself.
The visuals of the song aim to play with the same impact that both artists have on future generations and portray the youngest, who are able to feel the energy of urban rhythms without yet understanding the lyrics. The track vindicates that a Real G is an attitude that is not confined to a specific gender or age.
Bad Gyal’s international tour landed last Sunday in Mexico for her last three concerts at the two editions of the Cocacola Flow Fest in CDMX and Monterrey and the BB Auditorium. With a total of 30 dates, the tour kicked off in May, starting in London and continuing through festivals in Spain and Europe during the summer. In September the show came to the United States and later to the Latin American editions of Primavera Sound in Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires.
